| Elvardo Wilson was born in the Bahamas in 1980. He grew up in the Capital of the Bahamas, commonly known as the island of Nassau. At an early age, Elvardo expressed an interest in the arts and soon discovered he was blessed with artistic talent and creativity. In 2000, Elvardo was accepted into the College of The Bahamas Architectural program. It was during this time that he “stumbled” across the world of fashion. He recalls watching a few of the “Red Carpet” events on the entertainment channel “E” hosted by the mother daughter duo Joan and Melissa Rivers. He eventually developed an interest in clothing design and started sketching illustrations as hobby. While working at a local firm, one of his colleagues noticed some of his illustrations and later introduced him to Bahamian designer Jeff St. John who encouraged him to pursue his interest in fashion designing. In 2003, Elvardo decided to take sewing courses at a local trade school where he quickly made a name for himself. It was here that he met sewing instructor and fashion designer Percy Wallace who was very influential in Elvardo’s decision to make fashion designing his career. After completing his sewing courses, he was introduced to Bahamian designer Sabrina Francis and later studied as her apprentice for two years. In 2005, Elvardo displayed his work for the first time at the ‘Houte couture’ Fashion Series Competition. He received exceptional reviews from both the general public and the International judges in attendance. A few months later, he decided to launch his own clothing label called ‘Eldamont’. He wanted to create a clothing brand that focused on designing practical, affordable and stylish clothing that fit into your everyday life. In 2007, Elvardo started Caribbean Manufacturing with the vision of becoming the leading manufacturer of women’s apparel and accessories in the Caribbean. He is now focused on distributing his products through out the Caribbean, the U.S and eventually the world. |
